In Eden, it always seemed to be raining. Rain this, cloudy that. Days were rarely bright and nights were seldom starry. The day Iris Sophia Ambriel jumped down from Heaven was no exception. Iris watched, slightly frightened, as she floated down from her home in a bright beam of light. To her, it was as if somebody had switched off the bright lights of heaven and decided to trash the place.

As she slowly descended, she took note of the ruined and rundown buildings, the dreary atmosphere, and the poor state of the few people she could see. Tears began to fall from her pale lavender eyes as it finally hit her that she was here and not in Heaven anymore. There was no going back until God decided that the job was done. She was stuck in this place. With a gentle thump, Iris landed on the top of Notre' Tower and curled in on herself, sobbing silently as Heaven's light radiated down on her. Her magnificent lavender wings were open behind her, casting shadows on the roof of the tower and shining like a beacon for all of Eden to see.

Iris had put off leaving Heaven for as long as possible, even delaying at the very last moment. She supposed God had allowed her to do this because she was young and emotional. Even now, he shined his light down on her, as if to comfort the upset young angel. After several moments of weakness, Iris slowly straightened and wiped away her tears, feeling foolish. She looked up at the sky and mouthed "thank you" to the ever fading patch of light.

Abruptly it disappeared and Iris straightened completely and stood up uncertainly, brushing dust off of her flowing white shirt and jeans. She glanced around, clenching her fists in child-like determination. She was Ambriel, the angel of communication and truth, and she wouldn't collapse at the mere sight of trouble. No, she thought, straightening her wings, unaware that she was still quite the spectacle on the highest rooftop in Eden, I won't be beaten that easily.

Aingeal felt the cruel night about her. The rain fell on the dreary Eden, but somehow Aingeal still kept hope. Standing at the bottom of Notre' Tower was an intimidating experience, and it must have only been more so for humans due to the fact that they couldn't fly. Against the pale, rainy, cloudy sky, Aingeal saw something that took her breath away. Warm colorful wings spread out across the sky.

"What is this?" Aingeal found herself asking the air before her as if it could answer. "An... angel?" She squinted her eyes and tried to think. God had not sent her word of any new angels any time in the recent past, but those wings certainly didn't belong to a devil. Reluctantly, slowly, Aingeal let her wings out and slowly began to make her way up the tower. She hoped that her appearance wouldn't frighten the figure off, but she couldn't seem to resist the urge to move forward.

Iris watched silently, her soft purple eyes wide as she waited for Aingeal to fully come into view. She didn't recognize the other angel right away, having only caught a few glimpses of Aingeal in Heaven. As soon as Aingeal's face clicked in her memories, Iris's face lit up happily. She looked adorable and innocent, like a beacon of hope in the dark grey world.

"Hello!" Iris said rather loudly, taking a few light steps forward, her rather large wings still open. She barely touched the ground, practically floating as she walked to the edge of Notre' Tower to meet Aingeal, "Sorry I'm late. I was just nervous." Her tone was innocent and musical, a warm mixture of church bells and smiles. The young angel seemed as if nothing bad had ever touched her.

"I'm Iris... Er," Iris's overly expressive face went from happy to concerned all at once, "Well, you may know me as Ambriel. I don't really know how God introduces his angels... Um..." She struggled with the thought for a few seconds before letting it go. A brilliant smile planted itself on her face once again, "Whatever! I'm here to help in whatever way I can."

The feeling of the angel's kindness washed over Aingeal and gave her even more hope. Any doubt that this city had carefully planted in her head seemed so far away as she drew nearer to Iris. "I think I saw you around heaven!" A smiled passed on her face. Such a joyful, adorable angel Iris was. "Though the city isn't the most ideal place, it's wonderful to see you."

Aingeal paused a moment and smiled warmly as she came to proper level with the angel. "I suppose you could be considered a bit late, but I don't mind at all," The loving Arc-Angel felt rather lovely, "I'm Aingeal, the leader of Eden's Rebirth here in Eden. It's wonderful to finally meet you miss Ambriel."

"Please, call me Iris," Iris continued to smile, her dimples showing faintly on her face, "Only humans know me as Ambriel. I usually go by Iris. It's lovely to finally meet you." Her words seemed so honest and open, Iris seemed as if she couldn't lie to save her life. The young angel adjusted her shirt with a cute shimmy and looked down at the world below her. Instantly the smile fell from her face and was replaced by a deep sadness, "It's so dirty and dark..." She whispered softly, her weight transferring from her wings to her feet with a thud.

The large, pale purple wings that usually held her aloft drooped a little, mirroring the sadness on the angel's face, "Earth isn't at all like the stories say. Everything seems... empty. Cold. Where's the happy families and the children? The couples holding hands?" Eden had none of those things. No cheerful young people or dawdling elderly ladies carrying bags. In Eden it was survival of the fittest. Iris couldn't comprehend a world without light and, to her, Eden was a nightmare.

Aingeal's face grew grave as Iris observed the city with weary gloom. It was true. While many stories were told in Heaven of the finer, more beautiful places still on Earth, Eden was a hell. Tormented by devils, war, and heartless beings, this city had be rend apart and thrown down, far down like hell itself. "It's hard to believe, looking at a place like this, that those wonderful things we still hear about Earth even exist at all. They do though, it's just not very clear here," Aingeal spoke softly, carefully.

"This poor city's light has been stolen from it," As she began to explain she felt worried. "At one point in time, before devils ever came up from the depths of hell, I'm sure this place was much more beautiful. Perhaps not the idea stories we heard, but there was light I'm sure. But of course that's why we were sent here from Heaven, to restore the light to this city and protect the world from the devils."

"Oh..." Iris looked up at Aingeal with pale purple eyes the same color as her large wings, "O-okay. If you say so, then it must be true." Her pleasant voice held trust in it, adorable, endearing trust, "What'll our first task be then? To brighten up this sad world?"

"We must destroy that which dims the light of humanity... obviously", a dark voice exclaimed, the figure of a large, brawny stranger with bruised wings of white and dirty dark feathers erupted from the shadows. His eyes were darkened thanks to the countless sleepless nights he's spent hunting and defeating the demons that lurk about, but even he wasn't enough to take them down for good. As stubborn as Yohrich was known to be, the dark guardian was never stupid enough to over challenge himself with that in which he couldn't overwhelm entirely.

His attire consisted of a worn out white shirt, loosely buttoned and with the sleeves rolled up, a pair of dark cotaroid pants, some messed up, dark shoes, and bandages wrapped about his forearms and ankles. His neck bore the symbol of the cross, implying that which the wings should have already done. All in all, he appeared to have been a fallen, however, was far from the concept.

"Sorry to intrude... but there's no time left for the mortals of this planet. It's either us or them, and I'm not going down that easily...", he announced in slightly impatient tone of voice before slamming one fist into the palm of his other. Through his tone, it could be interpreted that he really didn't care that much for the humans and their sake of survival, much less, the instant gratification of winning the battle over the hell raised sinners and their conquest for total anarchy. His stern expression, busted lip, and cold aura weren't common amongst his kind, apparently, but it didn't mean they all held separate goals. They were a team, no matter what, and they were going to get through this mess even if it meant risking their own lives... at least, that's how he envisioned it...

Iris Ambriel's pretty lavender eyes widened in shock as Yohrich erupted from the shadows. He was such a sharp contrast from the innocence of her that it was almost laughable. They were the same race and yet thought, felt, looked so startlingly different. Suddenly shy, Iris lowered her gaze and mumbled something in her soft, musical voice.

"I don't think that's why we're here," she said again, softly. Still not looking at the large stranger's face, "In heaven we were taught that God loves all life..." Even as she said it, Iris knew it was a lie. God was fickle, vengeful, and brutal when the mood struck Him. He had wiped out entire species and killed millions when angered. Maybe God really had sent the angels to rid Eden of humans and devils. It certainly seemed like he had thrown as much hardship as he could at Eden...

The usually optimistic angel shook her head, her soft, wavy brown hair falling in front of her face. She thought for a second before looking up at Yohrich with determination, "No. I'm sure God wouldn't want us to kill his children. We're all his children. We have to at least try to forgive their sins." Her pretty voice was shaky but her expression was stubborn.

"I beg your pardon?", the male interrupted, finding this girl's logic and misunderstanding of his words completely irrelevant to the situation at hand. "Of course we shan't destroy the humans. They are, if I'm correct, the very creatures we've been sent to protect and save, right?", he continued on, his voice hoarse from saying much more than he was used to. He cleared his throat before attempting to reiterate what he meant earlier, with a slightly different vocabulary. "Sorry for the misconception of my tongue, but what I had suggested from before was that we take out those who dim the light of humanity, not humanity itself. That would be... blasphemous, I believe". To be frank, the winded guardian angel couldn't care less if his target was a mere mortal, however, he wouldn't bother wasting his time with them if that weren't the case. To him, they were like ants, and God, an ant farmer. These devils were nothing more than mere children playing around in the sand and stomping out the common fodder. The angels, including himself, were God's warrior bugs coming into the playing field so as to bite at the shins and ankles of damnation and scare them away... till later, of course. Children never remained disciplined for long.

Facing the girl with dark, pale blue hues, Yohrich narrowed his gaze in slight curiosity over this particular angel's nature. Perhaps she was too 'nice' or 'naive' to deal anything against those who thrive in sin and chaos. "Tell me... What is your purpose for being here? Are you not a soldier for the Almighty? If so, what would it matter who we vanquished, as long as the deed was done, correct?", the male tested, his brawny arms folding lightly underneath his pecks as his bruised and battered wings ruffled lightly, attempting to spread out and shake off some of the dust which darkened the original dove white color they were born with.

Iris studied Yohrich with her pale lavender gaze, "I am light. I am truth. I am redemption." She stated simply, smiling slightly. She knew the answer to his question quite clearly and felt that her words were all it required. She wasn't a killer, she was a singer. The angel Ambriel was the conversation starter and the forgiver of mortal sins. She solved problems between worlds and brought light to the dark. Her purpose in Eden was obvious, however dim she found the city.

Iris spread her gorgeous wings wide, feeling confident for the first time since her descent. In her mind, even devils could be forgiven their sins if the were only to repent. She was, indeed, the voice of optimism. Iris beamed positively at Yohrich, smiling.

"The same could be said of many...", the male mumbled beneath his breath, just before squinting at this girl and her overly bright aura which heavily contrasted his own, brooding one. Her smile seemed too bright to stand, even for him. Perhaps being away from Heaven so long has toughened his heart to the point of competing with stone and rock. Love, joy, bliss... they weren't in his vocabulary, or soul for that matter, but mere illustrious treasures that were never meant for him, and him alone. At least, that's how he saw it.

"Anyway... We've spoken too much... Time is of the essence. Shall we rid this world of the common sin in which it festers within? Or speak more on the matters of peace and justice like the dove and sparrow bicker over the last piece of bread...?", the roughed up angel proposed, his words flowing from thy lips like bees from an angry hive. She was the dove, and he, the sparrow. The bread was nothing more than a representation of the final word, being fought over like the opposite species would conquer one another for dominance and power... Luckily for her, he couldn't care less for such pitiful facets.
